The Forgotten Light of Akhenaten:
Discovering Egypt’s Spiritual Legacy

The Mesmerizing Gaze of Akhenaten:

The first time I looked up at the 13-foot-tall statue of Akhenaten in the Cairo Museum, I couldn't take my eyes off him.

I have made no deceptions I have told no lies

What my heart hated I did not do

I am One with the invisible God that created me

I will live for millions of years in this truth.

The first time I looked up at the 13-foot-tall statue of Akhenaten in the Cairo Museum, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. There was something about him that felt very familiar. He was unlike any pharaoh I had ever seen. As I gazed up at him, with almond-shaped, almost alien eyes, he seemed to gaze back at me with an expression that commanded my full attention. In that moment, I knew him and remembered what he always taught: “Live in Truth.” Akhenaten’s spiritual legacy in Egypt has always called to me.

That encounter sent me diving into everything I could find about him. To this day I am mesmerised every time I visit the museum. Each time, I stand in front of Akhenaten, looking up at him I seem to recall snippets of my lifetime in Armarna.

Visions of Ancient Amarna

What I saw in my mind’s eye that first time was breathtaking. I saw palaces blooming with gardens and adorned in natures beauty. Initiates studying Universal principles taught at the mystery school of Aten. I imagined the city of Armarna flourishing as an artisan culture centred in peace, music, art and the honouring of both the masculine and feminine.

It’s almost unfathomable how close we came to losing Akhenaten’s spiritual legacy in Egypt. Armarna, the city he and Nefertiti founded was so completely decimated that only bits and pieces of its story remained. Silence fell for centuries until an earthquake revealed something hidden: small cut stones filled the pylons at Karnak that everyone believed to be solid. These were the broken remnants of Amarna’s temples, reused as filler. That’s when archaeologists realised, this wasn’t just rubble but pieces to a puzzle that belonged to the legacy of Akhenaten and his beautiful Armarna.

The Revolutionary Pharaoh

Pharaoh Akhenaten was revolutionary. He reigned for 17 years, 14 centuries before the time of Christ. In his short reign he laid the spiritual foundation that echoes through the roots of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. He wasn’t merely a king, he was a prophet on a mission of universal peace. In my research, I discovered Akhenaten longed to purify a way of life that wandered from its sacred centre, through the spiritual path of Ankh en Maat—living in Truth. He knew his purpose and sought to reawaken a civilisation to its divine essence.

Can you imagine? 1400 years before the time of Christ, he created the world’s first monotheistic state. A society where each individual was encouraged to grow in mind and spirit, to practice justice, oppose injustice, serve their community, and live in joyful harmony with the greater cosmic order.

The Path of Zep Tepi

He yearned to restore the philosophy of Zep Tepi, (the First Time) under the Law of One. A time when heaven and earth aligned, when love and truth reigned. During the Amarna period, the Aten—the radiant sun disc—was not just a symbol, but a presence. Aten-Ra was love-light made visible, the giver of life. The rays of the sun reaching down with tiny hands in ancient art were a metaphor for the divine touch, the pranic force animating all life.

Oh living sun disc, thou art beautiful, great, glittering. When thy movements fade, the land is in darkness, every lion is out of his den. A hymn, a prayer, a truth still burning.

Though enemies hid Akhenaten’s light, they never extinguished it. It lives on—in memory, in mystery, and in those of us who feel the call to live in Truth, no matter the cost.

Join Our Sacred Journey to Amarna

This year, we will travel to Armarna on my Egypt tour. To walk the land Akhenaten once walked. To stand where the city of light once rose. To listen, remember, and reconnect with a vision of unity that still pulses beneath the sands. To experience first hand Akhenaten’s spiritual legacy in Egypt. I will be sharing more about his life, his mission, and his teachings on this sacred journey. There is just so much more to say….

If your soul feels stirred, perhaps you too are being called to remember. To remember that we are not separate from the heavens. To remember that living in Truth is not a path of comfort, but of courage. To remember that Love is the ultimate law—and the greatest rebellion.

Akhenaten whispers through the stones, through the silence and through the sun itself: Return to what is sacred. Return to what is real. Return to the Light.

In love, praise and gratitude of Divine Law
