Is Astrology Compatible with A Course in Miracles?
Reading the Course Through an Astrological Lens — Without Losing the Course
By Dehyana
Recently, I received an email asking why I teach astrology at all if, as A Course in Miracles teaches, there is no world. It’s a sincere question — and one I’ve sat with deeply over the years.
I’ve spent decades walking with A Course in Miracles, and for just as long, I’ve walked with astrology. For some, that sounds like a contradiction. But I don’t read the Course through astrology. And I don’t use astrology to explain the Course.
A Course in Miracles and astrology may seem unrelated, yet both invite us to observe perception rather than defend it.
What I do is let astrology show me where the mind is still believing it is in a world — and I let the Course do what it does best: gently undo that belief.
Does A Course in Miracles Reject Astrology?
Astrology, for me, has never been about prediction or destiny. It’s a mirror — a symbolic language that reveals how consciousness has learned to organise itself inside the dream. The Sun, Moon, Rising sign, and personal planets describe patterns of perception, not truth.
So when I read a chart, I’m not looking for fate. I’m seeing how the personality formed — how the mind learned to defend, seek love, avoid pain, and survive within the idea of a world. And that is precisely where forgiveness becomes meaningful.
The Course doesn’t ask us to deny our experience. It asks us to look at it honestly, without judgement. Astrology helps me see the landscape of the ego clearly — not so I can improve it, but so I can stop mistaking it for who I am.
Is Astrology Spiritual — or an Ego Distraction?
When I sit with a chart, I’m not asking, “Who is this person?”
I’m asking, “What beliefs about self are operating here?”
What fears are being protected?
What identity is still being cherished?
What story is still being taken as real?
Astrology names the conditioning.
The Course releases it.
This is where the integration feels clean for me.
I don’t say, “You’re this way because of your Moon.”
I say, “This is the emotional pattern the mind learned — and here is where forgiveness can enter.”
I don’t say, “This placement means this will happen.”
I say, “This is how the ego organises meaning — and meaning itself can be surrendered.”
Using Astrology Without Replacing Truth
A Course in Miracles is not interested in refining the personality. It’s interested in loosening our grip on the belief that the personality exists in a real world. So I hold astrology lightly — reverently, even — but lightly.
The Sun becomes a symbol of purpose as the ego defines it, until purpose is remembered as Love extending itself.
The Moon becomes emotional memory, until safety is no longer sought in reaction.
The Rising becomes the mask, until nothing needs to be defended.
The personal planets become habits of perception, until perception itself is forgiven.
Eventually, even the map isn’t needed.
And neither is A Course in Miracles.
But while the mind still believes it is here — still navigating relationship, grief, devotion, and embodiment — symbols can be used by Spirit instead of against truth. That’s the difference.
When Symbols Are Used by Spirit, Not Authority
Astrology doesn’t lead me.
And the Course doesn’t compete with it.
Astrology simply points to the lens through which the mind believes it is seeing a world.
I’ve come to trust that the Holy Spirit can use any language — even one as ancient and symbolic as the stars — as long as I remember that symbols are not reality.
So I don’t teach astrology as destiny.
And I don’t teach the Course as dogma.
I teach presence, discernment, and inner listening.
Because eventually, all tools fall away.
What remains is stillness.
And in that stillness, truth doesn’t need interpretation.
It simply is.
Much love,
Dehyana
