The Mirror That Speaks: A Reflection of Your Soul
By Dehyana
A Powerful Self-Love Practice to Build Self-Worth
This reflection is more than skin-deep; it’s a practice in building self-worth and awakening deeper self love.
Imagine standing before a full-length mirror, gazing at your own reflection. At first, you see only the familiar lines of your face, the shape of your body, and the expression in your eyes. But what if, in this moment of looking at yourself, the mirror itself awakens? What if it becomes more than a silent witness looking at you and begins talking to you?
Close your eyes for a moment and let your imagination take you there. Feel the shift in the energy around you as the mirror transforms from a reflective glass into an audible presence. Listen. There’s a soft voice emerging from the mirror that fills the air with an otherworldly presence. You are captivated. The mirror has become a portal inviting you into the depths of self-discovery.
Reflection as a Path to Self-Worth
“Dear (your name), I see you.”
The voice speaking to you from the mirror is gentle, yet firm, as if it has been waiting a long time for you to listen.
“I have been with you through it all—your joys and your sorrows, your triumphs and your struggles. I have watched you rise to your highest peaks and fall to your lowest valleys. You come to me every day, sometimes with curiosity, sometimes with hesitation. Some days with self-hatred, other days with acceptance. Yet, how often do you truly see yourself?”
Question — How often do you really look beyond the surface? How often do you look into your own eyes—not just at them, but into them? Do you recognise the soul that stares back at you?
The mirror continues:
“You search for validation in fleeting opinions, in the judgements of others, in the passing reflections of time. But I hold the truth. I see beyond what the world tells you to see. I see your essence, your light, your struggles, and your strength. And I ask you now—are you willing to see it too?”
A lump forms in your throat. You realise that much of what you present to the world is a version of yourself shaped by past wounds, expectations, and fears. The mirror is asking you to strip all of that away. What remains?
Embracing All of Yourself: Light and Shadow
Pause here and ask yourself: What do I see when I look at myself beyond the surface? What parts of me am I afraid to acknowledge? What would happen if I let go of my self-judgement and embraced my true reflection?
“My dear (your name), through me, you can confront your fears and embrace your strengths. I do not lie. I do not flatter. I reflect back to you both the light and the shadows…but not to shame you. I show you your entirety so that you may embrace it, transform it, and step fully into who you are meant to be.”
A wave of emotion washes over you. You have spent so much time avoiding certain aspects of yourself, yet here they are, staring back at you—not as enemies, but as parts of a whole. The mirror is offering you a gift: the permission to accept yourself completely.
“Do not be deceived by the illusions of perfection,” the mirror whispers. “True beauty is not found in flawless looks or youth. It is found in authenticity, in kindness, in self love and self-acceptance. You are not meant to be anyone but yourself. Can you accept that?”
You swallow hard. Can you? Can you let go of the belief that you need to be more, do more, prove more? Can you simply allow yourself to be?
The Mirror’s Invitation to Self-Love
Take a moment to reflect: What false beliefs am I ready to release? How can I show myself more love and kindness? What is one truth about myself that I am ready to embrace fully?
“Remember this: the reflection you see is not fixed. It is a canvas and you are the artist. Paint it with love, with grace, and with courage. Your imperfections are not flaws; they are brushstrokes of your character and growth. You, beloved, are a masterpiece in progress.”
With those words, the voice fades. The mirror returns to silence, yet something within you has shifted. You see yourself differently now—not as someone lacking, but as someone whole, perfect, and complete, while at the same time as someone evolving.
From this moment forward, let your reflection be a reminder—not of who you think you should be, but of who you truly are. And as you move through this journey of self-discovery, know this: You are far more than the reflection you see. You are the living truth of your immortal soul.
Now, I ask you: What will you choose to see the next time you look in the mirror? What story will you tell yourself about the person staring back? And most importantly, are you ready to embrace the masterpiece that is you?

I swear my dear son
No one in the entire world is as precious as you are
Look at that mirror; take a good look at yourself
Who else is there above and beyond you?
Now give yourself a kiss and with the sweet whispers
Fill your ears to the brim
Watch for all that beauty reflecting from you
And sing a love song to your existence
You can never overdo praising your own soul
You can never ever over pamper your heart
You are both the father and the son,
The sugar and the sugar cane
Who else but you, please tell me who else can ever take your place
Now give yourself a smile
What is the worth of a diamond if it doesn’t shine?
How can I ever put a price on the diamond that you are
You are the entire treasure of the house
You and your shadow are forever present in this world
You’re that glorious bird of paradise
