Happy Summer Solstice and Happy Birthday to all Cancers!

June 21st marks the Summer Solstice, where the Sun is at it’s zenith point in the sky. At 12 noon, if you look behind you, there will be no shadow. The good news is that light dissolves darkness!

Turn toward the light.

S

Sri Sathya Sai Baba is an illumination of God’s light, and is the perfect symbol for the Summer Solstice.

Baba first appeared to me in a dream and my curiosity sent me to India to discover for myself what this big-haired man from India was all about. I arrived in Puttaparthy during Shivaratri, one of the busiest times of the year, when hundreds of thousands of devotees flock to this tiny village, only to find there were no rooms available.

But I was determined!

After searching high and low, I managed to find a small room in a humble village home for rent. So, I bought myself a bed role, laid it out on the floor and curled up to sleep. What I didn’t know about Southern India is that it’s really, really cold at night in February, and the houses aren’t heated!

Laying on my bed roll, freezing cold, teeth chattering – I challenged Baba:

“If you are who you say you are, prove it!” Lo and behold, the photo of Sai Baba resting against the wall in front of me began radiating heat. Baba wrapped me in his warmth and love, and with a smile on my face, I drifted off to sleep, toasty and warm on that freezing cold night in February.

Baba blessed me with 3 incredibly insightful dreams that night. And that is how he ‘hooked and cooked’ me into realizing that he is a download of God, and so am I, and so is everyone else.

The first thing I heard Him say in the dream was. “No interview, only inner-view. Look inside to see if are you in integrity.  Are you in alignment in thought, word and deed?  No perfect, only excellence.  Do your best each and everyday.

In the first dream, I was a school teacher in a small village in India. My colleague informed me that Sai Baba wanted to see me. “Ooooh’ I thought with a little trepidation. He then playfully manifested a living Sun, Moon, Earth and Stars on the palms of His hands. In a very child-like way I said “Nice tattoo’s Baba!”  He said “No, no look again” and to my surprise, the tattoos were alive. He took my hands and said “I am the Sun I am the Moon, I am the Earth, I am the Stars. You Dehyana are the Sun, you are the Moon, you are the Earth you are the Stars.”

My take away: the Universe is in me and I am in the Universe.

In the second dream, Baba pointed His finger at me and said with Shiva eyes “Dehyana if you don’t heed my words – this will happen!” He suddenly turned black, and clapping hands together then separating them as though opening a curtain, he revealed a scene of massive tsunami waves. He then turned yellow as he said “Dehyana, if you don’t heed my words – this!” Again, spreading his hands, he revealed a nuclear explosion. Turning white he said “Dehyana if you don’t heed my words!” he revealed legions of armies marching on an ocean shore. Turning red he said “Dehyana if you don’t heed my words” another calamity unfolded before my eyes!

My takeaway: Live Truth. Live in love.  By reflection, resound and reverberation, The universe is showing us what our thoughts are manifesting….look around and see what is being created in your world by thought, word and deed.

He talked about the 4 F’s:

  1. Follow the Master (Dharma, righteousness/Concience)
  2. Face the devil (ego, worldly attachments)
  3. Fight to the end (desire-less end karma)
  4. Finish the game. (attain Moksha, Liberation)

In the third dream, Baba said “Dehyana, I have invited you into my dream.” I was in the Ashram, in a room with him, and he wanted to wash my hair.  He scrubbed my scalp thoroughly and I realised that the ego is like a barnacle and that only light will scrub the ego away.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba with LingamWhen I got up from the sink and and wrapped a turban on my head, I noticed he was heaving, as though he was going to vomit. To my surprise, he manifested a lingam from his mouth. He gave it to me and said  “Hold the power. Hold on to the power of God, hold on to the feet of the Divine. Love is power. Money is not power. Nothing in this world has power. Only love is power.”

I was hooked. Baba became my Sat Guru, guiding me to bring my groups to India, Egypt and Peru…and all of the other beautiful countries we’ve visited over the years. Even though he’s no longer in his physical incarnation, he’s always there. Guiding and protecting.

Baba. My sweet Baba, you are the manifestation of Spirit overshadowing this world with your divine Grace.

I humbly bow at your feet.
