The Mirror of Love

With Christmas just a few days away, I’ve been thinking about a different kind of mirror. Not the one that shows us our wounds or our blind spots or what needs healing. We’ve talked about that mirror many times — and it has its place.

But this is something else. This is the mirror of love.

When I think of Mother Mary and of Jesus, I don’t think of teachings or doctrines or even spirituality as we usually define it. I think of presence. Of being so anchored in love that people felt seen just by standing near them. The love they demonstrated didn’t correct, instruct, or explain — it simply reflected. And in that reflection, people remembered who they were.

I notice something similar when we’re truly present with one another — when we’re not trying to fix, or perform, or be “spiritual.” When we’re simply interested, curious, and available. Listening, laughing, participating, and showing up as we are.

At the end of the day, Love doesn’t need language and Light doesn’t need commentary. It just moves through whoever isn’t blocking it with concepts, roles, and motives.

Maybe that’s what this season is asking of us — not more insight, not more understanding, not even more healing. Maybe it’s asking us to become clearer mirrors. Beautiful reflections straight out of the Mind of God. By being kind without strategy, by paying attention, and by letting ourselves be full of wonder at the simplicity of love.

Honestly, the most powerful reflection of light isn’t someone talking about love — it’s someone living it in the middle of ordinary life.

And maybe that’s how love heals now. Not through teachings or preaching, but through pure Presence.

The Christ in me loves and honours the Christ in you.
