When the Soul Remembers

By Dehyana

My daughter Jaime sent me a beautiful video she recorded inside the magnificent St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia, Bulgaria.

A choir was singing.

There is something about standing in an old church, listening to sacred music echo through its walls. Voices rising together in harmony, melodies that seem to bypass the intellect and settle deeply into the heart.

And sometimes, without understanding a single word, we find ourselves moved to tears.

What is it that touches us so deeply?

I think about the generations who have stood within those same walls. People who came carrying their joys, their sorrows, their prayers and their longing for God.

Centuries have passed and the world has changed, but the human heart still longs for the same things. Love. Peace. And a sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves.

And then there’s the choir.

Different voices, different notes, each contributing to something beautiful. No one voice needs to overpower another. Imagine if we could remember that in our everyday lives. Harmony doesn’t require us all to sing the same note.

We live in a world filled with noise, opinions, uncertainty and division. Everyone seems to be searching for peace, yet so often we look for it in the very world that disturbs us.

A Course in Miracles reminds us that the peace of God is already within us.

Lesson 188 — “The peace of God is shining in me now.”

Why wait for Heaven?

Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes, and maybe their ears too.

I think that’s why sacred music moves us so profoundly. For a moment, we stop thinking, questioning and searching. We simply listen.

And something within our soul recognises what has always been there.

The music doesn’t bring us closer to God; it reminds us that “I and my Father are one.”

God Is. I Am. All is well.

With love,
