It’s OK To Ask For Help
By Dehyana
The Weight of Modern Life

The world is changing at lightning speed, and with so much uncertainty, many people’s nervous systems are frazzled, leaving them hesitant about asking for help. We are bombarded constantly with information coming at us from every angle—news, billboards flashing, the internet, social media, and podcasts—each one demanding our attention, pulling us in different directions, and often leaving us feeling ungrounded.
Now, more than ever, we need to protect our nervous systems. These times require that we have a strong support system built around us as we navigate uncharted waters. The pressure to manage everything on our own can be overwhelming, but we are not meant to carry the weight of the world alone.

Breaking the Silence Around Mental Health
Along with depression, addiction, confusion and feeling stuck, suicide rates are skyrocketing worldwide, a heartbreaking reflection of the immense stress, isolation, and despair so many are feeling. Grief and loss have deepened my understanding of this struggle. After losing my daughter to suicide, I know firsthand how overwhelming life can become when pain feels insurmountable. The belief that we must endure alone is one of the greatest lies we tell ourselves. It’s okay to reach out. It’s okay to ask for help.
“Asking for help is not weakness—it’s wisdom.”

The Power of Connection
Asking for help is not weakness—it’s wisdom. It takes strength to recognize when we need support, to acknowledge that we don’t have all the answers, and to lean on others when the burden becomes too heavy. There is no shame in seeking guidance, whether from a friend, a mentor, a therapist, or a spiritual practice that brings you back to center.
We live in an era that glorifies independence and self-sufficiency, but true resilience comes from connection. We are wired for community, for mutual support, for love. When we open ourselves to receive help, we not only heal ourselves, but we also give others permission to do the same.
If you are struggling, please know that your pain does not have to be carried in silence. There is a way through, and there are people who care. Whether through professional support, spiritual guidance, or trusted friends, help is available.
Let us commit to normalising the conversation around asking for help, breaking the cycle of silent suffering, and holding space for one another with compassion. The world is moving fast, but we don’t have to face it alone.
“We live in an era that glorifies independence and self-sufficiency, but true resilience comes from connection.”

Finding Support and Healing
After my daughter Jordy’s suicide, I said ‘yes’ to yet another call to further my studies as a grief counselor, having firsthand experience with complicated grief and loss. I immersed myself in study. What I have learned has profoundly deepened my understanding of life and death, the many faces of grief, the cycles of transformation, and the sacred journey of healing. If you feel lost in your grief, in whatever form, know that you don’t have to walk this path alone. There is wisdom in reaching out, and I am here to help.
