Written in the Stars: Seeking Meaning Through Astrology After Loss
By Dehyana

The Moment Everything Changed
On Monday morning, October 6, 2024, I was told that my daughter Jordy died by suicide. As I wrote in previous blogs, that moment literally took my breath away. I had no words but I could feel that I was forever changed. However, In the wake of that unbearable loss, something miraculous happened—I began to hear Jordy’s voice as if she were right beside me. As I shared in my blog Hey Mama, I’m Still Here, her presence was unmistakable. And then, another voice, one that came from deep within, whispered: Pick up the pen. It wasn’t just a thought; it was a directive from Spirit itself—write, write, write. So I did. Writing became my lifeline, blogs, prayers, stories and poetry, the bridge between my shattered heart and the light I could no longer see.
“Grief silenced me. Spirit told me to write.”

The Cosmic Call to Look Deeper
In the stillness of my grief, another download came through: Check the planetary transits—in both your birth chart and Jordy’s. I listened.
I put both charts in front of me and with a pen in hand I traced the celestial movements, mapping the energies at play around the time of her death.
But before I go on, let me be clear—
Astrology does not dictate fate.
It doesn’t decide outcomes.
It indicates the cosmic energies we are swimming in.
Helping us understand underlying currents that shape our journey.
Like an ancient compass, Astrology has been a tool of mystics for centuries, illuminating the path from darkness to light. And in my darkest moment, it became one more way Spirit was speaking to me.
“Astrology doesn’t dictate fate—it reveals the cosmic currents we are swimming in.”

Pluto, Uranus, Neptune & Saturn—Messages from the Outer Planets
The first planet I turned to was Pluto, the lord of death and rebirth. Not always literal, but always profound. Pluto, based on the sign and house placement, shows where you’re being called to transform. I checked for transits affecting Pluto. Then my gaze shifted to Uranus, the disruptor, the planet of sudden upheaval. I carefully checked degree points and transiting planets that would activate Jordy’s natal Uranus. From there, I moved to Neptune, its house placement being the realm of illusion, deception and spirituality, the place where the veil between worlds is thin. Was her Neptune being affected?
Saturn, the ever taskmaster, known as the grim reaper of time, insisting on structure, discipline, and hard-earned wisdom, I checked if there were any hard aspects or transits activating her natal Saturn. As I look back, truth be told I was frantically trying to make sense of why Jordy died by suicide.
“As I look back, truth be told I was frantically trying to make sense of why Jordy died by suicide.”

Tracing the Stars—The Story Unfolds
I traced the houses, the degrees, the aspects between planets in both our charts. The story unfolded before me. My own chart spoke of mountains I would have to climb and of trials that would reshape me. In Jordy’s, I saw a major decision point, a crossroads written in the stars. There were important transits happening in both our charts!
Then I examined Chiron, the wounded healer—marking the place where we carry deep scars but also where we can offer healing to others. I studied the lunar nodes: the North Node pointing toward the soul’s evolution, the South Node revealing karmic imprints of the past. My mind spiralled with questions. What would Jordy have grown into had she fully stepped into the path of her North Node destiny? What wisdom might she have gained if time had allowed? The insights were both illuminating and heartbreaking.
Jupiter, the bringer of expansion, blessings and opportunities, had its own tale to tell. But why look now? Jordy was gone. Still, the heart seeks meaning as to what was and what could have been. So I kept searching, tracing the threads, the patterns, the greater design, hoping that in understanding, I might find peace.
My chart? It spoke of rising from the ashes, a Phoenix reborn. My natal Pluto’s relentless push toward my soul’s evolution. I could see where Saturn laid down its hard lessons and its roadblocks, which would require me to rebuild, redefine, and restructure my life.
“I kept searching, tracing the threads, the patterns, the greater design, hoping that in understanding, I might find peace.”

Eclipses & The Unspoken Shadows
The last solar eclipse—October 2, 2024—fell on the Aries/Libra axis, a cosmic call to find balance between mind and heart. It occurred just a few days before Jordy’s fateful choice. Mercury, the planet of communication, cognition, and expression was right there next to Libra, its influence amplifying how we express, negotiate, and understand the shifts taking place. The energy of an eclipse lingers for months, shifting the tides of our inner world. Since Jordy’s passing I am learning to perceive life through both hemispheres of my brain, to hold logic and emotion in harmony. And for Jordy? I can only wonder what was being ‘eclipsed’ within her as she made her final choice.

Mars, Venus & The Cosmic Battlefield
Studying Jordy’s natal Venus—the planet of love, beauty, pleasure, and relationships—revealed another layer of her story through its intricate aspects. Then, turning to Mars, the malefic force of action and struggle, I examined its degrees, aspects, house placement, and sign. Was she wielding both a shield and a sword in her life? What was she fighting against? Or had she simply run out of the energy or courage to face life’s relentless challenges? I will never truly know. Her chart, like a hall of mirrors, reflected possibilities rather than certainties. In its depths, I saw her as the unique celestial identity she was—complex, radiant, and ultimately, an unresolvable mystery.
But this isn’t just about personal transformation—the entire cosmos is shifting. We are entering an astrological revolution that will redefine our reality.
